I won't forget the fisrt words he said to me...
I had been watching him, hiding, so he couldn't see...
But my life took a twist of fate that day
Cuz he happened to pass me through the entry way
And though I tried to disappear, our shoulders still brushed.
I said "I'm sorry," and my cheeks began to blush.
Then he said "Stop, don't turn away. What are you sorry for?
Why do you hide away and shrink behind the door?
Has nobody ever told you that you're just fine?
If it's anybody's fault, the fault is mine."
Then he smiled at me and it shook me to the core.
As he said again, "What are you sorry for?"
My memories are vivid of all my mistakes
And every time I think of them, my heart begins to break
I wanted to impress him -- to show what I could do.
But every time I'd try, my faults came shining through
When I was around him, I felt like such a child
But all my fears were lifted when he turned to me and smiled
And he'd say, "Stop. Don't turn away. What are you sorry for?
Why do you hide away and shrink behind the door?
Has nobody told you that you're just fine?
If it's anybody's fault, the fault is mine.
Did you know you're beautiful, and you deserve much more?
You've done no wrong. What are you sorry for?"
And then there came that day I can't forget.
The day I told him how I felt about the day we met.
I understood now how we could never be.
His great disguise my blinded eyes just wouldn't see.
Then he grasped my shoulder, looked me in the eyes
And then he said those fateful words, "I apologize."
Then I said, "Stop! Don't talk that way. What are you sorry for?
Do you not know your care for me has opened up a door?
I turned my head, I closed my eyes, and shivered at his touch.
And then I said, "I'm sorry that I loved you far too much.
I never could be satisfied; I always wanted more.
I love you, and that's what I'm sorry for."
"Stop.

Yeah...
Basically what I learned was that some things just happen and it's often no one's fault. Just take what you're given.

And it makes me think why people say they're sorry sometimes.

I have a problem with saying sorry when a) I don't really mean it, and b) it wasn't my fault.
Then this guy's like, "Sorry for what? Not everything is your fault, helena!" And it knocked a little sense into me. Not a lot, but a little.
This song is supposed to be sort of positive... even though negative things happen. I want people to learn a lesson.
